Washington, D.C., 05/05/14 – The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), which represents more than 12 million men and women who make things in the United States, today joined with the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA), which represents nearly 500 local union chapters in the United States and Canada, to release a new web ad calling on President Obama to approve the Keystone XL pipeline. The potential economic impact of the Keystone XL pipeline forged the NAM and LIUNA’s strong partnership. Approval and construction of the project will boost economic growth and create thousands of jobs for workers in the United States.
During the ad, LIUNA General President Terry O’Sullivan highlights the enormous impact the Keystone XL pipeline would have on job creation. “America can’t wait any longer; we need jobs,” says O’Sullivan during the video. “Keystone will help families, with more than 40,000 jobs in construction, manufacturing and other industries. Keystone is more than just a pipeline; it’s a lifeline to new jobs for thousands of working men and women.”
NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons notes the importance of the Keystone XL pipeline to ensuring continued economic growth and energy security. “Building the pipeline will contribute as much as $3.4 billion to our economy; that’s real growth,” comments Timmons. “The Keystone pipeline allows us to access energy from a friendly and reliable ally. That’s good for families, and that’s good for consumers.”
The ad will run in numerous online publications throughout the month. The NAM also announced the rollout of a new Keystone webpage, which highlights the enormous support the pipeline enjoys throughout the country. To view the page, click here.
